I thought about sharing this case with you. My name is Mario, I am one of the Clinicians here at Dentaltech. The reason why I decided to show you this case it’s because when Elizabeth came to the clinic. She was very embarrassed and conscious about how her teeth looked and how uncomfortable they were. She was unable to eat and chew her food correctly, never mind smiling with confidence.
It is not the first time that we are sharing a smile transformation with you, visit our smile gallery to see other examples.
First Appointment
The day when Elizabeth came to the clinic for her original consultation, we had a good chat. She explained to me all the issues that she was having. Straight away I knew all the things we could do for Elizabeth. I could visualize how the new smile would look. Having spent the last 30 years of my life making and fitting dentures it’s given me a very clear understanding of how dentures should look and function.
The consultation is a very relaxing chat, where people like Elizabeth tell me what concerns they have about their teeth. I look at the current dentures and I examine the gums, any remaining teeth and facial features. So that we can create a set of dentures that not only look great and natural but also function properly. Dentures replace missing teeth, but they also replace lost bone. That is why it is so important to perform a very good oral examination to understand every person individual needs. Examining the facial contour allows us to build the gum on the denture to the level where the original gum would have been. Giving lip support, reducing lines and improving the general look.
Some people have been using fixative for years and got used to it. Some people had dentures made many years ago and they are deteriorated, or have suffered from wear and tear. They don’t realise because they just got used to them. Other people don’t like the feeling of having impressions taken because of a poor experience that they may have had in the past.
Advances in Denture Making Techniques
Techniques have changed massively since I started in the late 80’s. Materials have become more biocompatible, lighter, stronger, better looking. Even in the last few years we have seen a huge improvement. Dental manufactures have become aware that patients demand higher standards in every aspect, in terms of comfort, performance and aesthetics. All the materials that we use to make a great set of teeth, have been enhanced to levels that give us the results that we are all looking for. As a clinician, they give me the confidence that I deliver what my patients want. From the patient’s point of view, the results and feedback speak for themselves.
Smile Transformation
That’s why when I saw Elizabeth for the first time, I knew exactly what to do. I explained every step of the smile transformation carefully, asking questions and getting feedback from Elizabeth to make sure that everything was clear. That helps a lot to put patients at ease, so we could work together with Elizabeth to get a great result. Every time that Elizabeth came for an appointment, she knew exactly what was going to happened and how long it was going to take. I was so excited for the fitting day. It was the day when Elizabeth could actually take them home and start enjoying them. What I had visualized on that consultation a few days ago was now ready and the improvement was drastic. The look, the feel, the function, her whole face and expression have revitalized.
I am so happy for Elizabeth, I like to think that we have improve her quality of life. She reminds me why I chose this career.
The reality is that see people like Elizabeth everyday but each one thinks that their problem is unique to them. Because they have been told so or because they had dentures made years ago and are not aware what can be achieved nowadays with improvements in materials, techniques and time invested.
Why don’t you come and see us for a smile transformation chat like Elizabeth did and we can tell you what we can do for you.
