Metal Dentures
All About Metal Dentures

What is a metal denture?

People wear dentures to replace lost or missing teeth so they can enjoy a healthy diet and smile with confidence. Dental Tech provide both plastic and metal dentures for patients, depending on the patient case.

What are the types of denture?

Dentures are made of either acrylic (plastic) or a metal frame (Chrome) with acrylic.

How do I choose the best for me?

We will assess any remaining teeth you might have long with your jaw bone and overall condition of your mouth to see what type of dentures are best suited for you.

What is a metal denture?

The denture is not all made from metal. Dentures can have a metal base plate or framework that sits on and around the natural teeth, onto which denture teeth are attached by acrylic.

What is the difference between metal and plastic denture?

Metal framed dentures are stronger than plastic, it can be made a lot thinner and smaller, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the Rolls Royce of dentures. Because of the thinness of the metal frame, most patients say it is less bulky than the acrylic ones. The Metal one is slightly higher in price than plastic as manufacturing is more intricate and labour intensive.

Are metal dentures safe?

Metal dentures are made of cobalt chrome. Cobalt chrome is a very strong metal which has a high resistance to corrosion and is more light weight than other metals. The particular material we use has been designed to be in the mouth and is biocompatible.

Are dentures the only option to replace the missing teeth?

Bridges and Dental implants are other options to consider. Ask your dental team for more information.
